Some mornings ask us to rush. These are the ones I gently refuse. There is a particular kind of peace that lives in the first hour of the day, before the phone is picked up and the to-do list remembered.

Ten minutes is enough

It does not take a full retreat to reset. Ten unhurried minutes with a warm cup, a window, and nothing to prove is often all a tired mind needs to remember itself.

A simple ritual

  • Keep the kettle and a favourite cup within reach
  • Light one candle — even in daylight
  • Write three lines in a notebook, or none at all
  • Look out of the window until you see something you usually miss

That is the whole ritual. No app, no timer, no rules. Just presence, poured slowly, one morning at a time.
